Atlanta, GA – Man Injured in Serious Train Accident at Vine City Station
Atlanta, GA (January 4, 2022) – Around 4:30 p.m. on the afternoon of Tuesday, January 4, a man was injured in a train accident at a station in Atlanta.
Officials with MARTA Police were immediately called to the scene, which happened in the area of the Vine City station in Atlanta. They initially received reports that a man was stuck underneath a two-car train that ran on the green line. When they arrived at the scene, they found the trapped man, who was conscious but had to be extricated from the train by fire crews.
Paramedics rushed the unidentified male to Grady Memorial Hospital for treatment. At the time, he had a pulse and was breathing. He completely lost his leg due to being trapped under the train for several minutes.
Due to the severity of the accident, the train lines were all blocked until 7 p.m. Passengers were taken to their destinations on buses.
The investigation into the circumstances leading up to the accident continues.
