Atlanta, GA – I-20 Semi-Truck Crash at Panola Rd Causes Injuries
Atlanta, GA (December 25, 2021) – On Saturday, December 25, a serious truck crash occurred on a Lithonia-area highway.
According to officers with the Atlanta Police Department, the accident happened on westbound Interstate 20 near Panola Road.
A tractor-trailer and passenger vehicle apparently collided in a rear-end wreck in the left lanes, causing the closure of those lanes and severe traffic backups in the area.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene. At least one person was transported to a local hospital by ambulance for treatment of injuries, though their current condition remains unknown.
The roadway was blocked for about an hour while police collected evidence and worked to clear the scene.
No further details have been released but the investigation remains ongoing at this time.
