Atlanta, GA (April 24, 2021) – At least four people died after a crash that occurred on Interstate 85 in Gwinnett County on Saturday evening, April 24.

Per reports from officers with the Gwinnett County Police Department, the collision happened in the northbound lanes of I-85 near the I-985 split.

Some lanes reopened after 9:00 p.m. but others were closed for at least a couple of hours after the wreck, which occurred around 7:00 p.m. Officers were still urging motorists to avoid the area and seek alternate routes later Saturday evening.

No further details have been released but the investigation continues. Authorities did not say whether other victims sustained injuries in the accident.
