Atlanta, GA (June 16, 2022) – Around 4 a.m. on Tuesday morning, June 14, a DUI rear-end accident took place in Atlanta that involved a police officer.

According to Atlanta officials, the accident happened on GA-400 around the area of Lenox Road. Police confirmed that a police officer pulled over onto the side of the road with its lights and sirens flashing. Suddenly, a vehicle traveling at high speeds rear-ended the cruiser. Both vehicles sustained severe damage as a result of the accident.

Paramedics, fire crews, and several other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. The officer, who has not yet been identified, was rushed to a local hospital with moderate injuries but is expected to be okay. The other driver was not hurt but was taken into custody due to showing signs of impairment. He is now facing DUI charges.

A large portion of the roadway was blocked following the collision. Police quickly worked to clear the scene so traffic could return to normal.

No further details have been released but the investigation into the collision continues at this time.
