Atlanta, GA – Driver Killed in Fatal Car Accident in SB Lanes of I-75
Atlanta, GA (July 30, 2022) – On Friday night, July 29, a driver was killed in a fatal car accident that took place on a highway in Atlanta.
Atlanta Police confirmed that the collision happened in the southbound lanes of I-75 near the area of Fulton Street and just south of I-20. Police discovered through preliminary investigations that a vehicle was traveling in the area and attempted to pass a second vehicle. The driver of the second vehicle then lost control as a result of the passing, causing their vehicle to overturn and strike a wall. The vehicle sustained severe damage as a result of the collision.
Local responders, including Atlanta paramedics and fire crews, were called to the scene to help those in need. The driver of the second vehicle, who has not yet been formally identified, was tragically pronounced dead after being rushed to the hospital. It is not known if anybody else sustained injuries in the accident.
The roadway was blocked in several southbound lanes of traffic as police worked to clear the scene.
No further details have been released. Police continue their investigation into the circumstances of the collision.
