Atlanta, GA – Chain-Reaction Crash Involving Over 10 Vehicles on I-85
Atlanta, GA (December 15, 2021) – At 6 p.m. on the evening of Wednesday, December 15, a chain-reaction crash occurred on a highway in Atlanta.
According to Atlanta Police, the accident happened in the northbound lanes of I-85 around the area of 17th Street. Several vehicles were traveling in the area when at least one lost control, causing the vehicles to collide in a chain-reaction collision. Over 10 vehicles in total became involved in the accident. The vehicles involved were badly damaged as a result of the collision.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene to help those in need. One or more victims sustained injuries as a result of the collision. The injured parties were hospitalized, though their identities and conditions are not yet known.
Due to the severity of the accident, the roadway was blocked in the area. Police quickly worked to clear debris and remove the vehicles from the scene. Police urged those in the area to use I-285 as an alternate route.
The investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues at this time.
