Atlanta, GA – Chain-Reaction Collision on I-85 Before Shallowford Rd
Atlanta, GA (September 5, 2021) – At 6:11 p.m. on the evening of Sunday, September 5, a chain-reaction collision with injuries occurred in Atlanta.
According to DeKalb County officials, the accident happened in the northbound lanes of I-85 around the area of Shallowford Road. Four or more vehicles were traveling in the area when one slammed into the rear of another, sending it forward into several other vehicles. The vehicles involved in the accident were extensively damaged and had to be towed from the scene.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. One or more victims were injured in the accident. The injured victims were taken to local hospitals for treatment of their injuries.
Three left lanes of traffic were blocked in the area for a period of time until police were able to clear the scene. Police urged those in the area to use Buford Highway as an alternate route.
The investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues.
