Athens, GA – Two Injured in Car Crash at S Milledge Ave & Whitehall Rd
Athens, GA (January 11, 2022) – Police confirmed that two people were injured in a car crash that took place at an intersection in Athens on Monday, January 10.
According to the University of Georgia Police Department, the accident happened at 3 p.m. at the intersection of South Milledge Avenue and Whitehall Road. Two or more vehicles entered the intersection at the same time, which caused them to forcefully collide with one another. The vehicles sustained severe damages as a result.
Paramedics and numerous other local responders were called to the scene to help those with injuries. A driver and a passenger sustained injuries as a result of the accident. The parties were both taken to local hospitals by EMS for neck injuries. Their conditions are not known at this time.
Due to the severity of the accident, a large portion of the roadway was blocked in the area of the intersection for a period of time. Police quickly worked to clear the scene.
No further details have been released but the investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues.
