Athens, GA – Seven People Injured in Car Crash at W Broad St & Alps Rd
Athens, GA (October 21, 2021) – On Tuesday, October 19, a car crash with injuries occurred at an intersection in Athens.
According to Georgia State Patrol officials, the accident happened at the intersection of West Broad Street and Alps Road. A Chevy Trailblazer was traveling in the area when they attempted to make a left turn into a restaurant. This led to a T-bone crash involving the two vehicles. The vehicles were badly damaged as a result.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. Five people inside the Trailblazer, including the 22-year-old male driver, were injured in the accident. Two of the passengers are currently in intensive care at a local hospital. The driver and passenger in the second vehicle were hospitalized with minor injuries as well.
The driver of the Trailblazer was cited for failing to yield the right of way.
No further details have been released but the investigation continues.
