Athens, GA – One Killed in Fatal Crash at Vincent Dr & Acadia Dr
Athens, GA (August 16, 2021) – At 4:30 a.m. on Sunday morning, August 16, a fatal crash occurred at an intersection in Athens.
According to the Athens-Clarks County Police Department, the accident happened at the intersection of Vincent Drive and Acadia Drive in the area of the Holland Youth Sports Complex. At the time, a 2005 Toyota Tacoma was traveling north when it made a turn, striking a 2007 Tacoma at the intersection. The vehicles were left with extensive damages due to the crash.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The driver and passenger in the 2007 vehicle were both injured but are expected to recover. The passenger in the 2005 vehicle was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. The driver of that vehicle, identified as a 27-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The roadway was blocked in the area of the intersection for an extended period of time.
The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
