Athens, GA – One Injured in Car Crash on Oconee St Near Wilkerson St
Athens, GA (October 4, 2022) – One person was injured in a serious car accident that took place on a roadway in Athens on Monday afternoon, October 3.
According to the University of Georgia Police Department, the accident happened at 4 p.m. on Oconee Street around the area of Wilkerson Street. Police confirmed that at least two vehicles entered the intersection at the same time as one another, causing them to collide. The vehicles were both extensively damaged in the accident.
Several local responders, including paramedics and fire crews, were called to the scene to help those in need. One of the drivers involved in the accident sustained a leg injury in the accident. They were treated at the scene by EMS crews but their current condition is not yet known.
Due to the severity of the accident, the intersection was blocked in the area for some time. Police worked to clear the scene quickly so that traffic could return to normal.
