Athens, GA – One Injured in Car Crash at Lumpkin St & Cedar St Intersection
Athens, GA (August 9, 2022) – One person sustained injuries in a car accident that took place at an Athens intersection on Monday afternoon, August 8.
According to the University of Georgia Police Department, the accident happened around 1:52 p.m. at the intersection of Lumpkin Street and Cedar Street. Police reported that two vehicles were traveling in the area when they allegedly entered the intersection at the same time, which caused them to collide with each other. Both vehicles sustained severe damage as a result of the crash.
Paramedics, fire crews, and several other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. One of the involved drivers was injured in the accident. The unidentified party was treated at the scene for arm and back injuries. He is expected to be okay.
The roadway was blocked in several lanes at the intersection for some time following the collision.
