6/9 Warner Robins, GA – Serious Pedestrian Accident on Watson Blvd

Athens, GA (May 19, 2021) – At 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday morning, May 19, a fatal pedestrian crash took place at an intersection in Athens.

According to officials, the accident happened at the intersection of Tallassee Road and Westchester Drive in a construction zone. A 27-year-old Chatsworth man was working in the area when he was suddenly struck by an asphalt truck that was backing down the road. The man was painting the road at the time when he was struck forcefully by the 50-year-old driver.

Paramedics and numerous other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The pedestrian was rushed to the hospital but was pronounced dead while there.

The roadway was blocked in the area for several hours as police cleared the scene.

The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
