Athens, GA – Carly Johnson Killed in Pedestrian Accident on Cedar Shoals Dr
Athens, GA (October 14, 2022) – Around 9:34 p.m. on Thursday night, October 13, a woman was killed in a fatal pedestrian accident in Athens.
According to Athens-Clarke officials, the accident happened at the intersection of Cedar Shoals Drive and Crows Nest Court. A woman was allegedly walking along the roadway in the area of the intersection when she was suddenly struck by a Chevrolet Impala that was headed north. The driver fled the scene without stopping.
Several local responders, including Athens paramedics and fire crews, were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The pedestrian, who has since been identified as 34-year-old Carly Johnson, was tragically pronounced dead at the scene due to traumatic injuries. Nobody else was hurt in the accident.
The roadway was blocked in the area for an extended period of time. Police worked to clear the scene as quickly as possible.
It is not known if the driver involved in the accident was caught or charged.
The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues. Police will update with more information as it becomes available.
