Athens, GA – Car Accident at Oconee St & Old Winterville Rd Intersection
Athens, GA (August 10, 2021) – Around 4:27 p.m. on the afternoon of Monday, August 9, a car accident occurred at an intersection in Athens.
According to the University of Georgia Police Department, the accident happened at the intersection of Oconee Street and Old Winterville Road. Two or more vehicles were driving in the area when they collided with each other after entering the intersection at the same time. The vehicles involved in the crash were extensively damaged as a result.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene to help those with injuries. One of the drivers involved in the crash was taken to the hospital with neck pain, though he is expected to be okay.
The roadway was blocked in the area of the intersection for a period of time.
No further details have been released. The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues at this time.
