Armuchee, GA – Update: Annie Millican Killed in Fatal Head-on Crash on GA-27
Armuchee, GA (August 3, 2022) – A woman was killed in a fatal head-on collision that took place on a roadway in Armuchee on Tuesday evening, August 2. The victim has since been identified by police, as well as the circumstances of the collision.
According to Floyd County officials, the accident happened on GA-27 around the area of GA-156. Police confirmed that 87-year-old Annie Millican was headed north in the area when she collided with a patrol vehicle due to reasons that are not yet known. The first vehicle then started to slow down, when it was struck by a Ford Flex operated by Crystal Morris. Morris later told police that she did not see the vehicle and the accident until it was too late.
Paramedics, fire crews, and several other responders were immediately called to the scene to help those in need. Millican was tragically pronounced dead at the scene due to traumatic injuries. Morris was seriously injured and rushed to the hospital but her current condition is not yet known. The deputy, as well as his two passengers, were not hurt in the accident.
The roadway was entirely blocked in the area of the accident for an extended period of time. Police worked to clear the scene as quickly as possible.
The investigation into the circumstances of the accident remains ongoing.
