Americus, GA – One Killed in Fatal Crash on GA-30 & GA-153
Americus, GA (November 3, 2021) – At 1:20 p.m. on the afternoon of Wednesday, November 3, a fatal crash occurred at an intersection in Americus.
According to Sumter County officials, the accident happened at the intersection of GA-30 and A-153. A driver of a Jeep Patriot was traveling north while a Cadillac ATS-V was traveling west. The driver of the Jeep Patriot entered the intersection, which is when it collided with the driver’s side of the Cadillac. It is believed that the driver of the Jeep failed to stop at the stop sign in the area.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The driver of the Cadillac, identified as an adult female from Americus, was pronounced dead at the scene. The adult male passenger in the Cadillac was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
The driver of the Jeep, identified as an adult woman, and her passenger, were both taken to local hospitals for treatment as well. Their conditions are not known at this time.
All lanes of traffic were blocked in the area for an extended period of time. Police urged those in the area to use alternate routes.
No further details have been released but the investigation remains ongoing.
