Albany, GA – Update: Fatal Pedestrian Accident at Albany State University
Albany, GA (November 2, 2021) – At 2:17 p.m. on Monday, November 1, a fatal pedestrian accident occurred at a university in Albany. The pedestrian has since been identified by police.
According to officials, the accident happened on Dennis Drive at the Albany State University. A 21-year-old male sophomore linebacker at the college was walking in a marked crosswalk at the entrance to the university at the time. He was suddenly struck by a City of Albany Transportation Bus while on his way to practice.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The pedestrian was tragically pronounced dead at the scene due to traumatic injuries.
Several students were allegedly on the bus at the time of the crash but none of them sustained injuries.
The Dennis Drive entrance was blocked for an extended period of time following the collision.
No further details have been released but the investigation continues.
