Albany, GA – Man Killed in Fatal Moped Accident on Tremont Ave
Albany, GA (July 26, 2021) – On Saturday, July 24, a man was killed in a moped accident on a roadway in Albany.
According to the Albany Police Department, the accident happened on Tremont Avenue around the area of Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. The driver of a Nissan Altima was headed toward Tremont Avenue on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. The driver of a moped made a left turn at the intersection. The Altima did not see the moped rider and swerved out of the way but it was too late, causing both to collide forcefully.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. The 48-year-old male riding on the moped was taken to a local hospital with severe injuries. He was tragically pronounced dead while there.
The roadway was blocked at the intersection for an extended period of time as police cleared the scene.
The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
