Adairsville, GA – Woman Killed in Moped Accident at GA-3 & GA-140 Intersection
Adairsville, GA (June 3, 2022) – Around 9:09 p.m. on the night of Thursday, June 2, a woman was killed in a fatal moped accident at an intersection in Adairsville.
According to Georgia State Patrol officials, the accident happened at the intersection of GA-3 and GA-140. A silver Toyota Sienna van was traveling south at the intersection when the driver started to make a left turn. The driver of the Toyota failed to yield to a moped that was traveling in the area, causing the vehicles to collide with one another.
Paramedics, fire crews, and several other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. The driver of the moped, identified as a 61-year-old woman from Adairsville, was tragically pronounced dead at the scene due to her injuries. Nobody inside the Toyota sustained injuries in the collision.
The roadway was blocked at the intersection for an extended period of time. Police confirmed that the driver of the Toyota was charged with failing to yield while making a left turn and misdemeanor homicide.
No further details have been released but the investigation continues.
