Acworth, GA – Woman Killed in Fatal Pedestrian Accident on GA-92
Acworth, GA (October 15, 2021) – At 7:42 p.m. on the evening of Thursday, October 14, a woman was killed in a fatal pedestrian accident in Acworth.
According to Cherokee County officials, the accident happened on GA-92 around the area of Northpoint Parkway. A vehicle was traveling eastbound in the area when the driver struck a couple walking home to a hotel from dinner. The driver remained at the scene to cooperate with the police.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were dispatched to the scene. The wife, identified as a 73-year-old woman, was pronounced dead at the scene due to traumatic injuries. The husband, identified as a 78-year-old man, was rushed to WellStar Kennestone Hospital for treatment of his serious injuries.
Police did not say if the driver of the passenger vehicle will receive charges. The roadway was blocked in the area for some time.
No further details have been released but the investigation remains ongoing.
