Acworth, GA – Fatal Pedestrian Crash Involving Child on New McEver Rd
Acworth, GA (January 10, 2022) – Around 10:16 p.m. on Sunday night, January 9, a fatal pedestrian crash occurred on a roadway in Acworth.
According to Cobb County Police, the accident happened in the eastbound lanes of New McEver Road in front of a home. A 7-year-old girl with autism was outside when she was suddenly struck by a passenger vehicle traveling in the area. Instead of stopping, the driver of the vehicle immediately fled the scene.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other local responders were immediately dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The child’s body was discovered off the side of the road. She was tragically pronounced dead at the scene due to traumatic injuries.
The roadway was blocked in the area as police worked to clear the scene. Police claim that a University of Alabama license plate was left at the scene but they have not said if any arrests were made at this time.
No further details have been released but the investigation continues.
