Macon, GA – One Killed in Fatal Boating Accident on Lake Tobesofkee
Macon, GA (July 24, 2021) – Around 3:40 a.m. on Saturday morning, July 24, one person was killed in a fatal boating accident in Macon.
According to Georgia officials, the accident happened on Lake Tobesofkee. Two boats were traveling on the lake when they collided with each other due to reasons that are not yet known. It is believed that the parties on one of the boats abandoned their boat and were found in a nearby residence. Police later found the parties in the home.
Paramedics and numerous other local responders were immediately dispatched to the scene. One person on one of the boats was identified as a 22-year-old man who sustained a head injury and was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. A woman was also hospitalized with critical injuries and remains in the ICU. Multiple other parties sustained minor injuries as a result of the collision.
The area was blocked as police worked the scene.
No further details have been released but the investigation remains ongoing.
