Snellville, GA – Serious Car Accident on US-78 Near Hewatt Rd
Snellville, GA (July 23, 2021) – At 4:23 p.m. on the afternoon of Friday, July 23, a car accident with injuries occurred on a roadway in Snellville.
According to Gwinnett County officials, the accident happened in the eastbound lanes of US-78 around the area of Hewatt Road. A black pickup truck and a sedan were traveling in the area when they allegedly collided with each other due to unknown reasons. This caused the pickup truck to turn around on the highway, while the sedan stopped in the median. The vehicles sustained serious damages and had to be removed from the road by tow trucks.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene to help those in need. One or more victims were taken to local hospitals for treatment of their injuries, though their conditions are not yet known.
Due to the severity of the accident, two left lanes of traffic were blocked in the area until police cleared the scene.
The investigation into the circumstances of the accident remains ongoing at this time.
