Atlanta, GA – 2 Dead, 2 Injured In Ambulance Involved Crash Along Campbellton Road

Atlanta, GA (March 20, 2023) On Monday afternoon, a collision between an ambulance and an SUV on a road in southwest Atlanta resulted in the deaths of two individuals, with two others taken to the hospital. The incident occurred in the 4000 block of Campbellton Road.

Upon arrival at the scene, first responders discovered that the Pro Care EMS medical transport van had come to a stop in the middle of the road with its passenger-side door damaged. Meanwhile, the SUV had overturned and was situated in the grass beside the road, where it had collided with a tree. It was evident that airbags had been deployed in both vehicles. Atlanta Police later confirmed that the driver of the SUV and one of the ambulance’s occupants had died as a result of the collision, while the ambulance driver and another patient sustained injuries and were receiving medical attention.

The Fulton County Medical Examiner identified one of the deceased victims as a 32-year-old employee of the ambulance company. Local residents say that the section of road where the accident occurred is known for being hazardous, with many drivers disregarding the posted speed limit of 35 mph.

Sharonia Kennedy, who resides nearby, commented that “People do fly down the road. I stay on this side street right here and people go 50 down the street. We just have to be a little more patient out here on these roads. Make sure we all stay safe.” An employee from ProCare declined to provide a statement on the incident when contacted by phone on Monday evening.

The Atlanta Police Department’s Accident Investigations Unit is continuing its investigation into the collision.
